bamboo of horror
may 2002


here are photos of the bamboo of horror taken on 5/27/2002. as you can see, it spreads quite prolifically. as a novice gardener, I am not sure but I think that it has underground rhizomes (??) that seem able to life independantly of the mother plant.

update august 2002 - we learned in june 2002 from the helpful people at the gardenweb bamboo forum that this plant is called japanese knotweed, an extremely invasive and noxious invader from asia. we are still battling this plant daily in our attempts to eradicate it.
