just say NO to circumcision: Kirk's StoryBy Julie, Mother of Kirk and Kyle Please DO NOT CIRCUMCISE your son until you read this!!! If you are pregnant and you are thinking about circumcising your son then it's not to late to change your mind. I can only wish that I would have been able to get better advice before the birth of my twins. This is Kirk's story. I had two beautiful twin boys, Kirk & Kyle. I didn't even discuss circumcision with their pediatrician. They were circumcised. When Kirk was around six weeks I noticed that his foreskin was not going back the way that Kyle's was. Kirk's was coming up over his urinary opening and it seemed too tight. We took Kirk in to see the doctor. The doctor said that he needed to be recircumcised. To this day, I hate myself for listening to that monster. I cry, just trying to write this. Anyway, we took him in. They took Kirk into the back and strapped his little arms and legs down. They sent me out of the room. I could hear my baby screaming and crying. When I couldn't take it any more I got up to go into the room but they had the door locked. After I demanded that they let me in, I couldn't believe my eyes. I almost fainted. My baby was so pale. There was blood everywhere. The doctor was holding up a piece of bloody meat and his exact words were, "I want you to look at what I got off of him." Can you imagine someone strapping us down and pulling meat off of us and then saying such a thing about it? All I wanted to do was hold my baby in my arms. The doctor told to take Kirk home and apply pressure to his penis until it stopped bleeding. The nurse told me to take him to the emergency room if I couldn't get it to stop. When we got home, Kirk was exhausted. I checked his diaper and it was completely soaked in blood. I rushed him back to the doctors office. At this point the doctor realized that he had cut TOO MUCH. WHAT???? He called in a specialist that told us to meet him at the hospital. They performed emergency surgery on my baby. He is four years old now and has scars and holes in his penis. One day he asked me, "Mommy, why do I have this hole in my pee, pee?" It is the holes from where the needle went in during the surgery. My child went through all of this for absolutely no reason - simply because I was uninformed about circumcision. If I had all to do over again, I would say absolutely NO to circumcision. Our babies depend on US (mothers) to protect them. Everyday I live with the guilt of what happened to Kirk.
